Many constituents have recently been in touch with me regarding the Digital Economy Bill that is currently passing through Parliament.
The Bill is an important step towards shoring up the national economy with regard to digital services and this is especially important for Bath, with our strong range of high-tech firms. The Bristol and Bath area is home to the fastest growing tech economy in the UK and securing high-speed broadband is necessary to protect this position. The new broadband universal service obligation is essential for maintaining and growing this strong economy and will help to ensure better connection speeds for Bath residents and business and as such I support this bill and will ensure that these views are heard by the government.
